Ammunition demand continues to outstrip supply.

June  2021 continued the current string of strong (even record breaking) sales of firearms.  Product availability continued to improve in June, likely the largest single contributing factor in the month's final tally.  While the urgency that has characterized consumer demand over the course of the past year has somewhat cooled, total sales numbers indicate the robust continuation of current market trends.  Ammunition demand continues to outstrip supply, with everything from hunting rounds to handgun rounds.

The palatable shift in demand these last weeks mirrored more traditional industry trends.  The traditional post Tax Day demand slow down did not happen in 2020 and the frenzied pace of these last 12-14 months makes for a blurred memory of how normal, seasonality looks and feels.  In late Spring and early Summer graduations, vacations, and weddings move to the forefront of consumer spending... doubly so in 2021.

Most states have loosened or eliminated Covid related restrictions, while a great many folks are vaccinated and feeling free to return to their previous way of living (and spending). 

Many retailers reported a return to pre-pandemic inventory levels in a few product types and categories.  The freewheeling purchasing attitude of "I'll take anything" regarding firearms from consumers and retailers has largely transitioned into seeking out specific brands and models to fill specific needs.  The political wildcard remains however.  That degree of uncertainty remains a force in the market.
